A daft little cross stitch

2015SmallsSAL

I'm joining in with the Smalls SAL again this month.  I doubt anyone remembers, but I've been stitching a series of little bunnies.  Each one was a standalone stitch found on a cover "gift" - one of those "free charts" leaflets that pass as a gift (on the front of a magazine full of free charts!), the only details I have is that it's from Cross Stitch Collection but I have no idea when.

This month I stitched Tiff (and then took a very blurry photo).  The real Tiff wouldn't really wear a dress, I mean, obviously not, she's a rabbit, but as I'm anthropomorphising her, if she were a walking, talking, clothes-wearing bunny, I doubt she'd wear a dress.

Here's all four bunnies together.  When I'd finished, I added their names underneath using an alphabet from Cross Stitch Keepsakes and Cards by Jo Verso.  It felt like it needed something more, so I added the row of carrots using a pattern found in 555 Cross Stitch Designs.  I carefully counted the threads, then counted the number of stitches in a carrot and figured out the spacing in between to have carrots all the way across.  Then I stitched the first carrot and somehow added another row.  I had to re-calculate, but it just wouldn't work out, so the final carrot is half eaten.

I put Ellis in the wrong place, Tiff and Colin don't live together, in fact, when they met, they fought.  Colin was the hardest bunny to stitch due to his colouring.  If you want to know what these bunnies really look like, there are photos in my sidebar, or search my tags for "real life bunnies".

I think Harry and Ellis would be friends if given the chance.  The sit in their runs and look at each other sometimes.  Aaah.

smalls sal

2015SmallsSAL

I'm joining in with Smalls SAL again this year.  The idea is that you stitch some of those little projects you have lying around.  For me this mainly means cover kits.

I'm carrying on with the set of rabbits from individual charts which came with a cross stitch magazine years ago (sorry, I've lost the details).  As they're individual charts, I count each one as a small!

This is Ellis, my white bunny.  She's very delicate and elegant looking, so I dressed her in pastel pink and yellow.

Here she is with the boys - Harry in the middle jumping for joy and Colin on the left waving.  Just Tiff to go and I hope to get that done for February's small.  Then it's just fingers crossed that the arrow drawn in Frixxon at the top will come off!

Wesley and Buttercup love

SmallsSAL2014

For the first time in months I can join in with the Smalls SAL!

I found Pixel People cross stitch patterns a while ago, then recently someone was talking about a pattern they'd bought from this shop.  I hopped over to take a look and found myself buying 2 Princess Bride patterns.  Now this is madness.  Princess Bride is Mr CA's favourite film and I wanted to stitch them for him.  Remember how I said I'd never make him anything again after the Tardis pouch debacle?

I stitched this little picture of Wesley and The Dread Pirate Roberts AKA Wesley whilst at the Manor House.  It's going to be a Valentine's or anniversary present.  I also bought a pattern of the cast of characters which I'll probably stitch up for Christmas for him.  At least then when he hates it and asks what it is I'll know the Valentine's/anniversary gift won't be well received!  Why do I do this to myself?

I'm going to have to stitch the next one secretly, so it will be when he is out at archery, mind you, I could probably sit there next to him and stitch it and he wouldn't even look to see what I was doing!

smalls sal

Smalls SAL.  Yay, another successful Smalls month!
SmallsSAL2014

Last month I stitched Colin, this month I stitched Harry.  Here he is, levitating slightly - yep, I miscounted!

Harry is a black bunny with a few patches of white on his face and underneath.  I didn't want to stitch him in black as I thought it would be too much, so I used 1 strand of black and 1 of silver.  He's 6 now and he is starting to go grey!

I had a bit of trouble with his face, I did a triangle of white to start with as I was afraid his eyes wouldn't stand out.  It looked terrible, so I unpicked and carried on as I'd done for the rest of him, just leaving 1 square of white for his eyes.

These little fellas are just 3".  On to the girls next!  Should I make them levitate?

Hello Mr. bunny!

Last month I failed to complete a cross stitch small for the Smalls SAL.  This month, I'm on my game!  I actually finished him at the beginning of April.

The pattern seems to be a free cover gift from Cross Stitch Crazy, but I got it in the Travelling Stash that I joined in with last year.  The pack contains charts, a couple of cards and some stickers, but no threads.  I stitched from stash so ignored the recommended threads.

All of the bunnies on the chart are honey brown, but I'm going to stitch one for each of my buns, this one is Colin.

Speaking of bunnies, I got the most wonderful, generous surprise from my lovely friend Susan.  The yellow is perfect as I have so few yellow bunny fabrics, and I love the lilac Posy.  Thanks Susan, it's very much appreciated.

Whilst making my chair cushions, I picked out two layer cake slices featuring bunnies from Lily and Will.  It's a shame I used the cream one without noticing, and who knows if there are others which I used in making the panel that is lost?  Ah well, at least I have these to add to the collection.
