Friday Night Sew Ins - December

I've just signed up for the two Friday Night Sew Ins this December.  The first is on the 10th December and the second on the 17th December - I've also booked those two afternoons off work using up my one remaining holiday day so I can get even more Christmas Gifts made!  Come and join in the fun over at Handmade by Heidi and get some work done on Christmas gifts or decorations.

I'm also after more help!  Do any of you lovely UK readers out there know where I can buy some sewable clear vinyl/plastic?  They certainly don't sell it in any of my local craft/fabric shops and I've had a look on-line but found only vinyl table cloth covers and I don't know if I can sew with them.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and more help!  What would you use to stuff bean bags - and I don't want to use the little polystyrene balls.  Any suggestions most welcome!

I have a busy weekend ahead of me as it is our weekend to have my step-daughter and she's bringing her crazy friend.  They want to go and play in the snow.  I do not.  Much as I love snow, I've had enough of it, driving 20 miles to work and 20 miles home on icy, snowy roads is enough for me!  I'm hoping to cry off and get some knitting/sewing/crochet done!

I use those little plastic pellets for flower arranging to stuff the bottom of pincushions and was thinking of using the same thing to stuff some bean bags for my little boy. Hope it helps!

If the vinyl you need is for a small project perhaps you could recycle the packaging for bed sheets/comforters which is very similar as the one you buy by the yard... just a thought !
It will be a nice thing to let the girls go out and play where you can watch them through a window while you work on your needlework and drink hot tea ;-) !

Wendy when I read this post I was going to suggest the same thing as My 1st Bambina - I've just made drawstring bags with see-through windows, and I used the vinyl from some bedding packaging :) You may be able to find some linens still in bags ... at a thrift store, if you have one nearby - I see them in ours all the time! The Peek-a-Boo toy sack tute is at tonicoward.blogspot.com, if you want to have a peek for it - they're fun to make, and would make a great bag for your god-daughter's beanbags!

Hi ladies,
thanks for your comments - My 1st Bambina, you are a no-reply blogger so I can't email you back! Unfortunately, bedding doesn't come in that packaging in this country - or maybe it's just the cheap stuff I buy! Certainly in places like Asda and Wilkos it's just wrapped in quite thin polythene, but thank you anyway!
