it's finished!

It's finished, it's finished, it's finally finished!!  It was almost done on Saturday night, so I stitched like a demon on Sunday night, staying downstairs whilst Mr CA went to bed just to get it finished.  The only problem with that was I had no one to say "Ta dah!" too!  I raced up to the bedroom and screamed "I've finished it!".  I honestly don't think he cared, not even in the slightest. Ah well, you all care, don't you?

Well you might care if I told you what the hell I was on about!  The Charles Rennie Mackintosh cross stitch is done!  I've just had a quick flick back through my posts to see when I started it (why do I have to give posts such stupid titles?  It makes is hard to find things!) and I started it on the 17th August, so it took me 2 and a half months, though obviously it wasn't the only thing I was working on during all that time.  I don't think that's too shabby though.

Oh, did you want to see it?

Are you sure?

OK, are you ready?

Ta dah!

It's not the last you'll be seeing of this little baby, I'll show you again once I've made it into a cushion.  Speaking of which, does anyone know a UK-based online shop with a wide range of Kona solids which is also helpful?  I emailed Simply Solids last week asking if she'd help me match some fabrics to my threads if I sent her a sample.  I've heard absolutely nothing back from her.

I originally intended to make two cushions, there's a pattern for one on a white background and one on a black back ground in the ancient copy of Cross Stitch (well, it's from 2008, so I suppose I should call it vintage!) I stitched this from.  There's no way I've got time for that before Christmas so it might be a present for mother's day, or Christmas next year!

Have you tried Backstitch for your solids (I get confused with Kona and Klona, but they have a full range of one of those in stock!)?

Of course we care it's beautiful! Ive been doing bits of cross stitch recently and totally appreciate how very time consuming it is. Look forward to seeing it as a cushion.

Its really gorgeous - well done! I know how time consuming cross stitch can be but it was definitely worth it! Can't wait to see it turned into a cushion too.

Love it! CRM is a fav. or mine. So, I also have the ancient mag. This is very beautiful. Stitching on a black background is not easy -- well done! Have you considered using decorating weight garnet or purple velvet for the back of the cushion? It would look really LUSH.

Eternal Maker has a good selection of Kona solids - £4.00/half meter.. If you know of any others let me know! I love finding new UK-based shops.
