Mellerstain Parrots #5

Another 3 weeks have gone whizzing by so it's time for an update on my progress on Mellerstain Parrots by the Crewelwork Company.

Here is where I was last time.

I finished the berries at the top, and did the two leaves I'd missed under the parrots' tails.  Then I started working on the left hand parrot.  I was looking forward to using the lovely blues and reds on the birds... it hasn't happened yet!

Here's a closer look at the parrots and those two leaves.  As you can see, I never actually finished the right hand leaf - it's a good thing I take these photos or I wouldn't notice these things!

I'm stitching along as part of a SAL where we all work on our WIPs, you can go and see what the other participants have been up to here:

  1. wow this is stunning, and so neat. I have also done the "spot it in the photo" thing. One piece I stitched a while back, I was thrilled to finish and it was not until the finished pictures went onto my blog, I noticed that two lambs in the picture had no legs. Oops the happy dance had to stop until I corrected that lol.

  5. I know what you mean about details you don't notice in 'real' life showing up in photographs. I've had the same experience. It can be helpful, but it can also be frustrating! Looking forward to seeing some feathers on those birds!

  7. It's the sort of design where it's easy to miss something. So many different elements. We'll just have to hope for some bright parrot colours next time :-)

  10. Taking a photo is the embroiderer's equivalent of copy-editing, isn't it!

  11. Whenever I see your crewel work I'm thinking I would love to try it too. But I have the feeling that I'm not patient enough for such delicate and intricate work. It looks fantastic!
