My dad used to bang little nails in one of my mum's old wooden cotton spools and I'd use that.
It was so easy that more recently I bought a proper set for my grand daughter. However not only has she found it difficult to get on with, so have I.
Why? I don't know that we ever did anything with the long 'knitting', other than to have competitions to see who could make the longest. I've seen kids at school make them into wall art by gluing the knitting on to cardboard and making pictures, such as snails. I could see the knitting being incorporated into applique work.Pam @Threading My Wayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15990609128028224347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4902503112918417582.post-71106612592980763872013-11-19T19:01:35.766+00:002013-11-19T19:01:35.766+00:00I've knitted with wire but with knitting needl...I've knitted with wire but with knitting needles not a spool knitter, so can't help I am afraid.

I am sure they are good for something but I just can't think what!Celtic Thistlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07033484481693226138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4902503112918417582.post-78021118027024507752013-11-19T16:23:25.001+00:002013-11-19T16:23:25.001+00:00neat! My Dad made me one when I was a little girl, oh maybe five or six, from a wooden thread spool with tiny finishing nails, nailed into the top. I made many a hot pad out of the long coils but I don't recall making anything else with them. Not sure how many of them link to actual tutorials/projects, but it might be fun to spend some time looking at different things :D There are embellishments like flowers, trivet type projects, scarves (love those, actually), toys/critters (which mainly look to come from kits that include the knitter) - I even saw a pink version of your spool!Sandra :)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16239494415344028806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4902503112918417582.post-37703155120889472452013-11-19T12:19:33.992+00:002013-11-19T12:19:33.992+00:00I'll be honest, I've never really worked o...I'll be honest, I've never really worked out what you're meant to do with the bits you've knitted either....Samanthahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07177176453011247321noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4902503112918417582.post-77919437493431356062013-11-19T11:10:59.138+00:002013-11-19T11:10:59.138+00:00They are lovely.
