I made a panel using the Scrappy Trip Around The World method. I presume I quilted it, but looking at the photo below, it doesn't look like I did. Ooops, well that was an oversight then! When I came back to it after the 26 years, it was fused to a piece of fusible fleece and sewn into the basket shape, but i'd forgotten to put the heavy duty interfacing in, and it's that that makes them stand up, so I fused a piece to the lining instead. I think that's why this is slightly squarer than the others I've made.
I did iron down the sides to make it square, but the others definitely flop more. Maybe it's because they're 26 years old.
I lined it with a piece of pink/red/yellow fabric as I didn't have any large pieces of red that I was willing to sacrifice for a scrap bucket. The panels are 33" long to start with so fat quarters are no good unless I seam them.
And here it is with all my neatly ironed red scraps!
Now I have 6 baskets. I've only got brown, grey, white and black to go. I don't think I'll do individual baskets for all of those colours, but I'm not sure yet where the split will be. I'll let you know in 26 years.

Well done. I think if it were me, I would keep the brown separate from the black, grey, and white, but in fact it probably depends on how much you have in the way of scraps of each colour!

Hehehe those are certainly far prettier than MY colour coded scrap containers, which are, in fact, yellow-lidded plastic bins that used to hold dishwasher tablets :D Oh - and since I didn't have enough of those containers (and because I really REALLY like to separate my colours), I also use the always-lovely clear spinach containers. Oh yes, my scrap corner is a veritable cornucopia of elegance. NOT!
The 26 years connection made me LOL, which made hubby look at me grumpily, as he's trying to watch South Park (ughh) while I play on the computer :D Our oldest is 26 years old - perhaps there's a connection? ;)

these are a great idea, although I don't think I'd have the courage to make special buckets for my scraps ^^ I just fling mine into see-through plastic bags lol.
What a great idea, to use coloured baskets for your corresponding coloured scraps, it looks as if, like me, you have more blue scraps that the others!

Oh nice one, I didn't realise you'd made so many! I have some spare brown, grey, black and white scraps if you want so on Saturday.....
My scrap drawers are separated up as brown, then grey and black together, then white and crazy multicoloureds I couldn't classify as a specific colour in another.

Snort!!! "Let you know in 26 years"...You know there is a trend this week in quilting blogland about rather ancient projects getting finished! I too have a--- well, a teenager compared to your 20-something know-it-all project! I finally finished hand quilting a Christmas tablerunner from 1998 or 99, and plan to post about it this weekend! I do love these baskets! I want to make several for my scraps too, but so far they rest in plastic tubs and plastic stacking drawers...and ziploc bags...not so pretty. Love your humour. :-)

Your 26 year old project reminded me of mine LOL. I have a few that are as old as 30 years old. Well they are out of sight so out of mind LOL

Lovely baskets, wish I had room to store scraps like that, mine are all squashed in a bag at the top of the wardrobe (out of DH´s sight)
