Beadweaving stars

Wonderful mum tracked down another source of craft classes for us.  There is a local textile group called Living Threads who run a series of workshops which non-members are invited to attend.  There are various textile and embroidery classes and also some bead weaving ones.  We're booked on to some of the embroidery ones later in the spring.

Our first class with this group was a bead weaving class with Patti McCourt,  we attended a class that she ran at the Bead Shop last year.

Patti had made up a load of kits for us, so we just had to choose the colour scheme.  The one I chose was mint, aqua, copper and red.  Not a colour palette I would have put together myself, but wow, does it work!

The pattern uses pearls, twin beads and size 11/0 seed beads and I think it's a beautiful pattern.  I'm really pleased with the necklace that I made (and I did finish in the class!) and have worn it quite a lot.

It's a very successful colour scheme, isn't it! I'm expecting to see it appear again...

Funny you should do a bead post today - as I sit here at the computer, I have the book "Beading on Fabric" sitting right beside me, as I've been poring over it for inspiration - I've really been on a "searching for bead inspiration" kick lately! I even ordered a book from Amazon a few days ago - Simply Sensational Glass Beading - and I pulled out my small collection of beading books (4 or 5, including the one I have upstairs here) to look through. I spend more time looking and reading and internetting about beads, than I actually spend WITH the beads, but oh well :)

Those stars are beautiful - BEAUTIFUL! They look like they each took many hours to do. And funny again, that you mention double beads - I just learned about them a few days ago while I was doing yet more research - I actually know what they are, and I have some bookmarked on Ebay to order when I get all my ducks in a row, lol!

Ooh that's gorgeous. The colours do work even if it does sound an odd combination.
