The first month of 2012 is almost over and I've made practically nothing. I have hundreds of books and magazine with sewing projects marked, hundreds or even thousands of bookmarked webpages and pins on Pinterest*, a list of to-sew items as long as my arm yet I'm faced with "what should I sew"? An overload of inspiration maybe? Sometimes I just sit on the sofa, staring at the TV, but then the next day at work I wish I could be at home sewing!
Then I read about the most amazing giveaway at Very Berry Handmade and decided to resolve to sew! This weekend, I'm going upstairs, I'm grabbing a craft book/magazine and I'm going to sew... something. When I take a break, I'll get on Pinterest and find something I want to sew and just sew it! OK, so I want to win the giveaway, and this is the prize I'd choose:
Fat quarter bundle (10 FQ) from Erin McMorris’s Summersault from Backstitch, but I also want to get out of this creative slump I feel I'm in.
Now, you can't have a post without a photo, so here's a photo of the flannel I won on a giveaway at The Sewing Directory before Christmas.
Those piggies will be perfect for something for my mum, I'm just not sure what yet! If you're in the UK and haven't checked out the Sewing Directory, you should, it's a directory of UK based fabric shops and they run frequent giveaways.
I'll be back soon with a post about this:
And I might even get round to showing you the crochet project I've got going on. After the weekend, there should be (hopefully) loads of sewing posts!
Edited to add: ladies, I'm having problems commenting on most blogs - the pages just wont load. I'm also having email problems - I can't email many people and I can't email anyone with a hotmail address! These things come in threes, so I'm guessing Blogger will go down now!
*A note on Pinterest: I've read loads of blogposts recently where the authors are bemoaning the fact they can't join Pinterest as they don't want to join Facebook. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO JOIN FACEBOOK TO BE ON PINTEREST. I have a Facebook page, but Pinterest doesn't even know about it! You can sign up with an email address. If anyone does want to join, I still have some invitations left, so just give me your email address and I'll invite you. And if you want to follow me, I'm here.

I find it hard to get started at th ebeginning of the year. Finally found something I fancied making last weekend.
Look forward to seeing what you find to make.
I too have so many projects I want to start and or complete, Wendy! And thanks to Pinterest, I've added more! In fact, I completed my first Pinterest sewing project for a pincushion swap I'm in.(oicture on my blog, others will be made from my cottons) To say I'm Pinterest hooked is an understatement!!!
I'm actually a little bit happy to know I'm not the only one that had a slow start this year - I had many plans and many goals, but just couldn't get in the groove until the last week or so! Now I can't wait to get down to the studio to sew, so I'm glad I'm back on track, lol. I emailed you for a Pinterest invite - I understood from their site that you have to have a Twitter or Facebook account and I have neither, so I'll hide under your wing and sneak in the side door! ;)
I know what you mean about being overloaded with inspiration. When I have lots of things I want to work on I get paralysed by indecision and end up doing nothing. In the end I've decided to just start working on something little (e.g. a little free kit that came with a magazine or something) and that ususally gets me started! Maybe you need a little break though? You worked very hard on all those Christmas pressies so don't be too hard on yourself!
x
PS. I flippin love that piggy fabric!
