Word Verification - PLEASE turn it off

I've always hated word verification when leaving comments on posts, especially the kind where you type your message, then the page reloads and you have to type in a word, I suspect I've missed the word-typing hundreds of times and thought I'd left messages but hadn't.  Now word-verification has got even worse.

Now Blogger has changed it and it looks like this above.  People, I can't read it!  Yesterday I tried 3 times to leave someone a comment but couldn't get the word verification right so I gave up.  I'll be giving up a lot more too I think as it's a massive waste of time and utterly frustrating.

I've just read an excellent post at The Run Around Ranch Report on this very subject and I ask you all to go and read it, please!!

I'm afraid I agree with her and will have to stop leaving messages on word-verified blogs as it's just too hard.  I don't have word verification, but I do have comment moderation.  The reason I have it is that I love to go to my dashboard and see "3 comments", but I'm sad like that.  I have no problem with spam.  I allow anonymous comments so I do get spam, but Blogger puts it all, without fail, into my Spam folder where I can easily delete it without seeing the light of my Blogpage.  If you don't want to do that, don't allow anonymous comments.  Seriously, that's enough to stop spam.

Ladies, I beg you, turn it off!

Here here! Some of them are perfectly legible, and then there is gobble-de-gook like the one you posted. Not worth the effort to decipher it.

Amen! I'm with you on this for sure! I'm going to add this to my blog, too!

I totally agree. The new verification is horrible. I have to lean forward to try and read the words and that causes me actual pain! So I am inflicting pain upon myself to leave comments. I'm going to stop doing it soon.

I think it is worth bearing in mind that having these word verification procedures add extra difficulties to the people who have other health problems, such as with eyesight or swollen hand joints.

It's soooooo flipping annoying. I turned mine off nearly a year ago and haven't had a single spam comment in all that time!

Totally agree its bloody awful! I have always hated word verification but the new one is dreadful! There are a few occasions where I've just given up.
Annie the Felt Fairy did a post about this last year, I've never used verification and don't monitor my comments and I think I've only ever had one comment I've had to delete.

Hear, hear!
I haven't read the post you mention but I HATE this new word verification! If I don't get it right first time I give up!

Couldn't agree more! I never had word verification on my blog as I find it so annoying and today I saw the new style for a first time - it is worst than ever. Glad to see someone raising the issue.

I agree I fail to get it right about half the time....and if you miss and then get it it will still throw you in the spam pile.......and pay attention to some of the words they are using......strange...mine is off and I'm planning a how to turn it off post....maybe if enough of us do we can shut the stupid thing down:)

I totally agree!
Can't read those signs.
Glad to see that I'm not alone on this - it is so annoying.

Considering the problems I have with dual word verifications normally and the fact that I'm on satellite broadband, which is quite expensive, I'll be turning it off on my blog and going back to comment moderation. I've only had a couple of spammers over the years and it's not like I'm flooded with comments.
I'm glad yours was one of the blogs I visited first after a blogger 'drought' of 5 days!
Cheers,
Robyn

Agree! and while we're at it, could we suggest turning off the music? Please let me decide if/when/what about the music. I don't enJOY being startled by music from a blog. I so dislike being negative, but having been wanting to get that off my mind and your post today inspired me to do that. Thank-you.

I agree too! I didn't mind the old system because it was readable but the new one is driving me mad! I think I will turn mine off once I have worked out how to do it!

Amen! And why do folks have word verification AND comment moderation? Sigh.
