It's finished!

Hello ladies, I'm checking in for the SAL run by Avis and Claire and ... my piece is finished!

For those that haven't seen this project before, this is my Save The Stitches blackwork sampler designed by Elizabeth Almond of Blackwork Journey.

All the blackwork is stitched, all the beads are added.  Since then it has also been backed and sent off to the Quilt and Stitch Village to take part in the embroidery show!  Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos other than this one, taken on my tablet.  My camera had died by this point (this was last week) and so I just sent it off with the intention of taking pictures when I get to the show.  Cue lots of worrying about whether it'll get lost/damaged/stolen/run over by a fork-lift truck/eaten by a herd of cows...

As you can see, it's very long, about 40" I seem to remember?  I will take some more pictures when I get to the show and I'll measure it when I get it home and post about it again.  I can't help strutting a bit about this one, it's almost a year's work!

Stunning work Wendy, a real masterpiece. I have been following your updates on this beautiful blackwork design and hope that later you will post more photos for us to appreciate better the enormous amount of intricate stitching that has gone into this amazing beauty. Hope you win some sort of pin, badge, prize, award, cheque, round-the-world cruise or somesuch at the show :-))

Wow! That is so beautiful! I love blackwork, although I haven't done any for years - you may have just inspired me to put a blackwork project on my to-do list! xx

WOW that's not just a finish - that's a FINISH! It looks great - I can't wait to see the "finished project" pictures - I'm sure the cows wouldn't dare nibble, lol! Congratulations on sticking with it - I'm not sure I would have had the patience for that amount of teeny tiny work!

Congratulations - it's beautiful. I know you must be experiencing a range of emotions - relief and satisfaction that it's done, but also a bit lost now that it's not sitting there, waiting for you. I took a couple of days to adjust to the fact I'd finished my last big piece, but then there's the excitement of starting something new, or the feeling you can do anything and picking up another WIP to power through. Well done.

After investing more than a year, you should strut a little. Your stitching is absolutely beautiful.

I think I've probably said this before but I've loved this from the first time you showed us your first blocks. It is as stunning as I imagined it would be. You have truly created an heirloom piece.

Thanks so much for linking up to my new Stitchery Link Party!

I have fallen WAY behind on reading blogs. I am SO glad you shared this with the Stitchery Link Party at Super Mom - No Cape! I remember when you first started on this one (and a frustration along the way?) It was always one of my favorite projects to check in on. It is gorgeous! And 40 inches?! You should be strutting with this one. How wonderful to know it is going to be in a show. Absolutely stunning work!

What a fantastic finish Wendy! I am sure that any passing cows/ fork lift truck drivers would be too stunned to do anything other than stand back and admire it :)
