Work in progress

I've got very little to report this week, it's been a tough few weeks and I've done almost nothing.  Except watch both series of Orange is the New Black on Netflix (fantastic, you have to watch it) and the first two series of Breaking Bad, which I'm now addicted to.

Mr CA was away working on site so I moved my sewing machine to the dining room table (out of the bag where it'd been since the last quilt guild meeting!) and accomplished very little!  This is a bag.  I did all the cutting out at the guild meeting (6 hours worth of cutting out), then I fused the interfacing and fleece in place and... that's it so far.  Long way to go on this.

Yes.  That is knitting.  Yes, I know.  I hate knitting.  Mum had given me a stack of craft mags and this pattern was in one of them.  I had a couple of car journeys coming up so I took it with me to work on (I was the passenger, not driver!).  I got stuck when it told me to ssk as I don't know what that is.  I googled it on my phone and found nothing.  I must have another look from a larger device...  any guesses as to what this is to be?

According to my idiots guide to knitting book ssk is slip slip knit. Pass two stitches from the one needle to the other without doing anything to them and then knit the third. I wanted to learn to knit and bought The Knitting Book published by DK. Expensive but worth its weight in gold xxx

I watched all of Breaking Bad from start to finish in one month!

I'm now on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia- there are 9 series on there so far and two more commissioned so it should keep me going :)

Hi, ssk? It might be slip stitch knit wise, but I'm not very expert these days. I used to be able to knit the most complex patterns, but haven't done so for years and years. Good luck with it. Irene xxx

ssk means Slip Slip Knit, which I just learned myself when I was making those house slippers. I looked on YouTube for instruction videos. Good luck! :D

You have already received replies to your query so I won't go there but I do want to say don't beat up on yourself because you feel you haven't made much progress with your crafting of late, Wendy - sometimes we just need to sit back and do other things and then 'things' start moving again. Enjoy your quiet times, and your 'programmes'. xoJoy
PS Your bag looks very interesting so I'll be looking forward to seeing it progress - no pressure though :)

How on earth can you craft and stitch at the same time?!

I haven't done any knitting for MANY years, but did find it quite therapeutic, rather like hand stitching. Yesterday I came across the softest alpaca wool, but was a good girl and didn't buy any. I was very tempted though. Can't help with ssk.

Just by moving your sewing machine, you made more progress than I have over the past month. So...you can knit too. I want to learn. Now I know where to go for advice.
