Good morning everyone. Another 3 weeks has passed since I last showed you my large cross stitch project. I'm stitching Viennese Waltz by John Clayton which is a Heritage kit. Here is where I was 3 weeks ago:
And here is where I am now:
No, your eyes do not deceive you - I have finished!! I finished this on Saturday morning before I was to venture out for the first time in a week. I've been bed ridden for the last week with a horrible chest infection. I would have thought it would have been the perfect opportunity to get some sewing done, but I didn't feel like it and spent the entire week watching TV and sleeping. I'm still not better now.
As this WIP is now finished, I'll be starting another project for the SAL in 3 weeks time. It's not actually a new project, I'm going to pick another UFO so stay tuned to see what it is.

Viennese Waltz - update 11
Another three weeks has flown by and it's time for an update on my Viennese Waltz cross stitch. Here is where I was:
I have to admit to barely touching this since the last update. I've been so busy at work I don't leave until 7, and I have yoga on Tuesday nights and silversmithing classes on Wednesdays - I'm not sure if I told you about that? On top of all that, I'm reducing my very high dose of anti-depressants as I can't cope with the side effects and think I can cope emotionally on a lower dose. The withdrawal symptoms are horrific. Enough about that, on to the update. Here we are:
I have added a bit to her skirt on the right, and I've started the ground/shadow underneath his foot. Better than nothing! I really need a final push and I can get this done. When I've finished writing and scheduling blog posts tonight (it's Saturday evening), I'll get on to it, if the world stops spinning long enough.

Viennese Waltz - update 10
It's time for the update on my Viennese Waltz cross stitch. I didn't post last time as I had nothing to show. Here is where I was before Christmas.

and here is where I am now
So I didn't quite reach my target of having this finished by the end of 2015! It's time for a push to get this done, but I've just started a beading project which is taking up my sofa time...

Viennese Waltz update 9
Wow, what a horrific week or so I've had! It started a few weeks ago with a broken tooth (which I choked on!). I made a dentist appointment - the first appointment they had was 4 weeks away. Then 2 Fridays ago, the pain started. Wow, such pain. Saturday morning saw me at the Walk In Centre to see the emergency dentist. He pulled the tooth out. The following week was all pain. So Friday saw me back at the Walk In Centre. She pulled another tooth out. Today? Pain. At this rate I'll have no teeth left.
But you didn't come here to read me whinging about the dentist, you came to see my SAL update. Here's where I was three weeks ago:
I had high hopes of getting lots done, and I didn't do too badly considering I didn't stitch at all for one week as the pain was too bad. Here we are now:
A fair bit of skirt done there, but I've probably ruined my chances of getting this done by the end of the year!

Viennese Waltz - update 8
Another three weeks has passed since I showed you an update of Viennese waltz. Here is where I was before:

I finished the background on the right! When I'd done that I had to move the frame so here is a picture to prove that the right hand background is done:
I then finished the left hand background! Yay! Now I'm on to her dress, I managed a few stitches there too.
That's a pretty shocking photo but I did take it this morning, in the artificial light of the living room, sitting on a navy sofa. I'm hoping that the dress will go quite quickly, then I just have the ground underneath their feet to add.
The problem is, I got distracted from working on this. First by a baby blanket I decided to crochet, then by a quilt that needed the binding hand sewn on... let's hope I get back to it, I want to finish it this year.

Viennese Waltz - update 7
I can't believe another 3 weeks has gone in the SAL! I only realised when one of the organisers, Clair, emailed to remind us, so I whipped this baby out and put in.... wait for it... 2 whole threads! Here's where I was:

And here's where I am:
Masses of difference, eh?

In case you've forgotten, I'm stitching this as part of a three-weekly SAL, aiming to get us finishing our pieces, either new pieces or WIPs.

Viennese Waltz - update 6
Apparently it's been three weeks since I last showed an update on my cross stitch piece - Viennese Waltz by John Clayton. I can't believe it was three weeks ago! I think I must have accidentally slept for a week at some point... Today is my last day of freedom before I go back to work tomorrow. I had a whole week off. Mr C and I took a silversmithing class on Monday and Tuesday, then I had bead classes on Thursday so I threw in the whole week. I'll be updating you soon!

The above photo is where I was three weeks ago. The below photo is where I am now. I moved the frame slightly but I have finished his whole leg and shoe, I've also added quite a bit to her dress. I had a semi-successful trip to Hobbycraft on Friday to buy the threads I'm running out of to complete the background. The codes were for DMC threads, except 210 and 211 which were a completely different shade! I did my best there, matching up 210 almost exactly and not worrying about 211.

I'm enjoying stitching her dress, but I'm wondering if I should go back and finish off that boring background first. When I've finished the figures, there's a big of "floor" at the bottom which will be boring too, so maybe I shouldn't get the most interesting bit done first? But then, when did I ever have willpower?

Viennese Waltz - update 5
Last weekend I went away for a long weekend with the parents, my brother, his girlfriend and their son - my lovely little 3-year old nephew. We went to Somerset in the South West of England and had a very relaxing few days. I did a little stitching which I'll show you soon.
But today is update date. I missed the last update 3 weeks ago as I hadn't stitched on this piece at all. I was going to miss this update too but gave myself a good talking too and finally settled down on Friday and Saturday night to make some progress. Here is where I was:
And here is where I am now. Just a bit added to the leg/coat of the male dancer.
It doesn't look much but there is at least 3 hours stitching there, probably more. Now this piece is back on my stitching stand I should make some more progress... unless I get side tracked by my embroidery piece again... must show you that too!
